Elementium ore was introduced in the Cataclysm expansion and will be what Saronite ore was in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
Elementium is the place holding node for a resource called Pyrite, which will be the most valuable ore in the game. Players that farm Pyrite will by default end up with a massive quantity of Elementium. Elementium ore alone may not be worth farming after the first few months of the expansion and should only be done in conjunction with trying to find Pyrite or if someone needs to level their mining.
The best places to find Elementium since it is a mid-range to high end ore are: Deepholm, Uldum, and Twilight Highlands.
Deepholm probably has the most density of Elementium but may have fewer density of Pyrite as it is only a level 82 zone. It is nearly impossible to fly around Deepholm and not find a deposit of ore.
Uldum is a level 83-84 zone that is not recommended for farming Elementium, however, the resource can be found in this zone.
Twilight Highlands is a level 84-85 zone that is highly recommended for farming Pyrite and Elementium. Players will want to be within the level range of the zone in order to not get killed while mining.
Elementium requires 475 mining skill and can level mining up to 525 which is the max. It is recommended that players leveling their mining stop mining Obsidium at 475 and head to one of the Elementium zones in order to get to 525 as fast as possible.
